Canadian passport photos are larger than US or UK formats: 50 mm wide by 70 mm tall. Digital exports are often prepared near 591×827 pixels at 300 DPI with a plain white background. The face must be centered with a neutral expression.

IRCC and Passport Program guidance emphasizes a clear face outline, no shadows on the face or background, and no sunglasses or tinted lenses. Headwear is only acceptable for religious reasons when the full face remains visible.

Paper applications usually require printed photos with specific guarantor endorsements, while some digital pathways accept an electronic file. Start with the correct 50×70 mm size, then verify the complete official checklist before submitting.

Passport Canada requires unaltered photos. Use PhotoGov only as a sizing reference where appropriate; do not submit a digitally modified image when the official instructions prohibit it.
